Psalms

The fifth book of Psalms, song 126, New English Translation and King James Version

Psalm 126

New English Translation

   A song of ascents.
1 When the LORD restored the well-being of Zion, we thought we were dreaming.
2 At that time we laughed loudly and shouted for joy. At that time the nations said, "The LORD has accomplished great things for these people."
3 The LORD did indeed accomplish great things for us. We were happy.
4 O LORD, restore our well-being, just as the streams in the arid south are replenished.
5 Those who shed tears as they plant will shout for joy when they reap the harvest.
6 The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag of seed, will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain.

King James Version

   A Song of degrees.
1 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
4 Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
