Welcome to Seiyaku

What's new or updated in the past month:

  • New (14th May 2008)
  • New (13th May 2008)

Following yesterday's new page about the nasty Fire Horse, here's a new page about the nastiest of nasties: The Beast.

  • New (12th May 2008)

Of only slight interest to most people - unless you're thinking of marrying a Japanese lady born in 1966: Hinoe Uma - Fire Horse.

  • New (9th-11th May 2008)

Traditional wedding vows in German, Czech, Turkish and in Italian. More to follow.

(If you know traditional wedding vows in any other language, please let us know.)

  • Updated (7th May 2008)

After hours of searching, we've finally seen the light on the meaning of this mysterious symbol, carved on a Christian grave stone.

  • New (7th May 2008)

Mr. Pflüger has kindly sent us a contemporary German version of the hymn What a Friend we have in Jesus. This version strips away many of the archaic terms used in the original version, making the hymn's message much easier to understand.

  • New (23rd-25th April 2008)

Traditional wedding vows in Swedish, French and in Polish. The list is steadily growing.

  • Updated (21st April 2008)

    Variation of the Passion Cross.

  • New (18th April 2008)

Not so popular these days, but some people prefer to use the old-fashioned traditional wedding vows in Latin. (And while we had that section of the website open, we added an interesting version of the wedding vows in Klingon.)

What is seiyaku?

What is 'seiyaku'? Well, it's just the Japanese word for 'vow' or 'oath'; an earnest and solemn promise we promise never to break.

How is Seiyaku pronounced?
Sei as in 'Say that you love me.'
ya as in 'Yahoo!'
ku as in 'That's cool.'
